Marketing: Social Media Strategy - Step 1: Social Media Audit (Part 4)

Updated: Sep 12, 2022

To conclude the Social Media Audit, we will discuss the Competitor Assessment.

In this assessment, you will be analyzing the social media platforms of your competitors, and to begin, you need to pick out two competitors. It can be more, but I recommend clients start with two.

Under each competitor, write down six things:

  1. The social platforms that your competitors have (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)

  2. The URLs of each of those social media platforms

  3. The follower counts for each of those social media platforms

  4. The number of times they post on their social media platforms per day, week, or month (Go back three to six months and analyze all their posts)

  5. What are their strengths?

  6. What are their weaknesses?

Now, of course, you do not have their Social Media Strategy or Content Plan, but you can analyze their social media platforms to understand their strengths and weaknesses.
